Athens

Athens is a special place. When you arrive from the airport the road are full of advertisement which makes it look ugly.

We enjoyed very much Monastiraki area, its market and the park. The views from our top roof terrace of hotel Attalos was simply fantastic. On Parthenon hill on one side and the rest of Athens all around.

Our visit in the morning started with theatre before getting to Parthenon. We got there early by metro and were the first to buy tickets.

For fantastic food go to O'Tanassis. The meat was so tasty there, and you can either eat on a terrace or have it to go. We purchased delicious pita gyros for 1.80E and had a blast at our hotel (Attalos) roof top terrace with wine from the hotel bar.

More fantastic views from roof top terrace of our hotel. We had a family suite with 2 rooms, 2 refrigerators. The hotel personnel were all very nice. They even lowered the price when we told the grand father couldn't make it.

Early in the morning we took the metro to the port and were guided by a clochard to our Bluestar luxurious ferry. We bought our breakfast right in front of the ferry at one of the cafes which also had great pizzas and pastries. We purchased some for our 8 hours ferry ride to Santorini.
